"La Bandera"

La Bandera

Rice, beans, and chicken


This is pretty much the staple of every meal. The dish is called “La Bandera” the Dominican Flag and the beans (red kidney beans)
in a pungent herby tomato sauce. There was always a meat included – either chicken or pork, and a basic salad which consists of lettuce and tomatoes.


"Flan"

It is a custard dessert with layer of soft caramel on top.


The recipe for Flan survived the demise of the Roman Empire and spread to countries such as Spain, England and France,
The recipe adapted to the different cultures. In Spain it became a sweet custard generally made with caramelized sugar.
