Megan Meier was a 13-year-old girl who had an on and off friendship with a friend. She and that friend stopped being friends for good. Megan had been talking to a guy online--a 16-year-old named Josh. After Megan and her friends stopped talking, Josh told Megan he didn’t want to be her friend anymore because she wasn’t nice to her friends. Megan wanted to know what he was talking about and the next day Josh sent her a bunch of hateful messages and a hate group that was publicly on Megan’s page.

Megan’s mother told her to sign off and Megan didn’t. Her mom went to run a quick errand and called her to make sure she was signed off. She wasn’t. When her mom got home she ran downstairs to see if she had signed off. She still hadn’t. Her mom went back upstairs and talked to her father while Megan was up in her room. Megan’s mom suddenly had an awful feeling, she went upstairs to find Megan hanging in her closet.
