Megalodon, meaning "big tooth," is an extinct species of a shark that lived approximately
23 to 2.6 million years ago during the early Miocene to the end of the Pliocene. The megalodon
can swim in oceans all over the world. The megalodon's fossilized teeth were mistaken for dragon tongues.
The megalodon is 3 times longer then a killer whale. It also weighs half as much as the blue whale.
The megalodon lived on a diet of dolphins and giant sea turtles. As far as how quickly the megalodon swam,
the top speed of the Megalodon is unknown, however researchers think that the megalodon can reach up to
speeds of 20mph, which helped it catch up to its prey.
